Additional Information

The title for this piece is taken from Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse-Five and refers to humans being “trapped” in our two-dimensional view of time from the point of view of the extraterrestrial Tralfamadorians.  The title relates, in this piece, both to the temporal nature of certain musical ideas and to the capturing of the recorded voice of Noël Coward (from a recording of A Marvellous Party), transcribed for the guitar as short bursts of rapid melody.  The piece features the extended use of natural harmonics, which change as the guitar is detuned throughout the course of the piece. It finishes as it began, in standard tuning.
