Additional Information

Ten Bulls is a loose setting of the 'Ten Oxherding Pictures' by Kaku-an Shi-en.

The first three pictures were written for Sounds of the Engine House in 2014.

I.

In the pasture of this world, I push aside the tall grass in search of the bull.

My strength fails.

I only hear the locusts through the forest at night.

II.

Along the riverbank, under the trees, I discover footprints!

These traces can no more be hidden than one's nose, looking heavenward.

III.

The sun is warm, the wind is mild, willows are green along the shore,

Here no bull can hide!

The splendid head, the stately horns, who can draw this bull?
