Additional Information

Celestial is a collage of songs, words, soundscapes and film inspired by the childhood poems of Johnnie Douglas-Pennant. Published in Johnnie’s Poems following his untimely death in 2004, his words offer a seven-year-old’s perspective both on the natural world and the loss of his sister, Anna to Cystic Fibrosis. They’re touching, moving and inspiring.

Celestial features music and songs by composer, Paul K Joyce, soundscapes by sound recordist, Chris Watson and time-lapse sequences by Graham Gaunt.

The Sky

(Johnnie Douglas-Pennant)

The sky it carries wonderful things

Like the stars and the sun.

It makes a place for the birds to fly free.

And a place for us to gaze up at.

I don’t know what we would have

Done without the sky
