Shu Wang was born in 1978 in Pan Jin, a little city in the North-East of China. She started studying piano at the age of five and composition at the age of twelve. In 1994 Shu began her composition studies at music school, first at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing 1994-2002, and then at Guildhall School Music and Drama in London where she studied composition with Malcolm Singer 2003-2005. Now Shu works at the Yehudi Menuhin School as a Music Assistant; she is also doing a PhD at Surrey University. Recent works include Dian, commissioned by Swan Orchestra at Stratford-upon-avon, and Trio (written for clarinet, violin and piano) for Gemini at Surrey University.
