Michael Cryne

Biography

Michael lives and works in London, and is currently pursuing doctoral study under the supervision of Dr. Mark Bowden and Helen Grime at Royal Holloway, University of London, having previously studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.



He is currently one of Sound and Music’s New Voices, and a London Symphony Orchestra Soundhub associate.  He was recently awarded a place on the prestigious LSO Panufnick Scheme, and will be writing a 3 minute piece for the London Symphony Orchestra over the coming year.



Recent compositions include Slipstream, for all-Australian Chamber Orchestra Ruthless Jabiru, commissioned under Sound and Music’s Portfolio Scheme, Prism, a winner of the 5th Annual International Molinari String Quartet competition and Hearing Voices for Solo Cello and electronics, 2nd prize winner in the Coventry University International Composition Competition.
