Max Gibson (b. 1992) is composer, pianist, accordionist and teacher of composition.
He has worked with Laura Moody, Kerry Andrew, Mary Wiegold, Alessandro Ruisi & Dina Duisen, Peter Wiegold and his band Notes Inégeles, CoMA, Decibel, the Coull Quartet, Birmingham Conservatoire Composers Orchestra, the Flatpack Film Festival, Frontiers Festival, the University of Birmingham Summer Festival, Stratford Music Festival, Oxford Festival of the Arts, Ensemble Paramirabo and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
He is the founder and director of Rupture, an ensemble dedicated to the performance of new and improvised music. In March 2016, as part of the Frontiers Festival, they performed a selection of works from a call for graphic scores.
He is currently studying for an M.A. by Research at the University of Birmingham. He is a graduate of the University of Birmingham, and the Birmingham Conservatoire, and has also studied at The University of Western Ontario and the National University of Singapore. He has studied with Michael Zev Gordon, Scott Wilson, Daria Kwiatkowska, Howard Skempton, Andrew Toovey, Alasdair Nicolson, and John Woolrich, among others.
