Sound and Music is offering one to one phone surgeries for composers interested in the Collection.

I’m Alex, intern at Sound and Music, and I am working as technical support for composers wishing to create or add to their profiles on the British Music Collection.

I am offering one to one phone surgeries for composers, who would like to talk over the phone about setting up their profile, how to get the most out of it, as well as answering any questions. If you are a composer and would like to make a 15 minute appointment for a one to one phone session please book it here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/sound-and-music-8272904779

When I started working at Sound and Music I expected to be immersed into a world of new music, and the British Music Collection has certainly done just that. The immense collection of over 40’000 composers allows one to explore and enjoy music that would otherwise be undiscoverable. Sound and Music has breathed new life into the Collection with the new website, and with an increase in the number of composers signing up to the Collection, it is quickly becoming a really exciting and immediate resource for new music discovery.

The best way for the British Music Collection to reach its full potential is for composers to actively update and add their new material to their profiles. A fully updated profile makes an invaluable resource for composers, musicians, educators and researchers. I have been creating profiles for composers not yet on the Collection and assisting composers to make the most out their profile.

There are some great features for composers on the website - embedding links to YouTube, Soundcloud and Vimeo allows composers to showcase their work in style. And the amazing free-tagging feature which can connect similar composers or works and enables uses to navigate through the Collection and make discoveries and connections that would otherwise be lost in a vast archive.
